CT ABC and Volunteers Rebuild Deck for Wife of WWII Veteran

Associated Builders and Contractors of Connecticut (CT ABC) and a handful of dedicated volunteers helped rebuild a deck for the family of a WWII Veteran. The project was completed through CT ABC’s Project Open Shop Salute, an effort by the association to help military families in need of home repairs and renovations.

We were approached by Rebuilding Together New Britain early in 2015 about a family in need of some repairs to their aging deck. Upon an initial survey, it was determined that the deck would have to be completely demolished and a new deck installed in order for it to be operational and safe for use.

Through the generous donations of our members, the support of Rebuilding Together New Britain for the building materials, and the dedication of Vince Attwater-Young and his team at G. Donovan Associates, Inc. the deck was completed the first week of December. Regrettably, the WWII veteran passed away before the completion of the project. Our sincerest condolences go out to the family and we thank him for his service to our country. We hope that his wife is able to enjoy the deck for many years to come.

We want to again thank G. Donovan Associates, Inc. for their work and dedication to completing this project. It is rewarding to watch our members continue to step up and help those who have given so much for all of us through their service to our country.
