Connecticut ABC Milestones
1972: Connecticut joins the Yankee Chapter of the Associated Builders and Contractors
1976: Connecticut Chapter receives its own Charter, thereby becoming its own Chapter of the Associated Builders and Contractors; 120 companies were charter members.
1999: Connecticut ABC receives five awards at the National meeting for growth, 5% growth, retention, 90% retention, and achieving goal. Connecticut ABC was also accredited.
2000: The Contrens Apprenticeship Training Program is approved by the State of Connecticut. Connecticut ABC and CNA Insurance launch a Workers Compensation Plan. Connecticut ABC receives five awards at National meeting for growth, 5% growth, retention, 90% retention, and achieving goal.
2002: Connecticut ABC Annual Meeting and Project Awards Dinner reaches 325 attendees. 7 Excellence in Construction Awards presented. Member Services committee established, focused on retention, membership benefit awareness and an ambassador team to work with new members.
2004: CT ABC adds Education Director to staff and increases offered apprenticeship training by two trades.
2005: CT ABC and Federal OSHA sign Alliance to foster safer workplaces for ABC members and provide educational opportunities.
2006: Formed private occupational school - Construction Education Center.
